A recipe that goes from hand to hand and from generation to generation.. Extremely aromatic and tasty cookies for the days of Easter and not only ..!
Try them because they really deserve it!
INGREDIENTS (for 118 cookies):
• 600 gr. milk butter
• 1/2 kg sugar
• 1/2 water glass of lye
• 1/2 water glass of fresh orange juice along with the juice of a lemon
• 1/2 cognac wineglass
• ½ tbsp. baking soda dissolved in orange and lemon juice
• 2 vanilla
• 1700 gr. sifted all-purpose flour
• zest of the oranges and lemons
• peel of half an orange and lemon + juice of half an orange and half a lemon for the lye
PREPARATION:
We shifted some clean wood ash to get 2 tbsp. and we add it to a pot with 1 ½ glass of water together with the peels and juice from the orange and the lemon as listed above and be boil it until half of it is left. ..we need ½ water glass.
After they boil together we set aside to let it cool and let the ash sit. Then we strain it 3 times using gauze.
We add the butter and the sugar in the mixer and beat well
until they fluff up.
Then add the rest of the ingredients except the flour and blend together.
and slowly add the sifted flour
mixing until we get a soft dough that won’t stick to your hands.
Layer baking pans with baking sheet, form the dough in different designs, place them on the baking pans
and bake them in a preheated oven at 180C for 25-30 minutes until they get a honey color.
Let them cool and store in tightly sealed Tupperware.
